Monkey see...

Monkey saw

Monkeys for my Graphic Designer buddy Lee Freeman who's work is tastier than a chocolate coated banana pancake - SILICA GEL DO NOT EAT

One of the monkeys had to be changed a little so you'll have to find what they look like over with Lee when he posts them up!

Do it to it!

How much is that doggy in the window...

How much is that doggy for sale?

Busy little bee. Double-sided, but what's round back? Back-bacon-back-bacon.

A screenshot today...

...a website tomorrow?

I kinda liked this so I snapshotted it despite the fact it's an amalgamation of two files that shan't be living together much longer. Rumour has it their getting a divorce...

Right-o, think I'll do this more often. Screenshotting is as easy as one two four.

Toodle-poop!

Just one picture but it's for yoooou

...She eats bees!

I'm getting things ready for my final deadline at University before going out into the really real world where things that happen may actually have repercussions on my liiiiife

Blinkin' 'eckers... get that in your noodle - the mind boggles

Here is a European Bee Eater - they eat bees and may sometimes be found in France but propably more likely in other countries... who knows, I've never seen one - HAVE YOU!?

tweet, humm, buzz, cheep.

Can I get Issu to work...

...on blogger?

I'll never know unless I try!

This is a collection of drawings I have done as a tribute to Quentin Tarantino films that I adore. Hope I've done them justice.

Knowledge is free...

...so are small pieces of cheese

As much as I like free cheese samples nothing beats a nice block of your favourite cheese. Mine is currently Smoked Applewood.

Anyway here are some (hopefully) more dramatic/intense versions of previously posted posters. These are for the Great North Museum (or the Hancock Museum as it was known when I was a wee lad), in Newcastle Upon Tyne, where all sorts of wondrous learning can be done, and just recently there was a very hands-on lego exhibition! That was oodles of fun... anyway, enough of my rambling - you've come here to see pictures!

Tea-Riffic

bet you've never heard that pun before...

These are some sublime animations for Twinings Tea created by the animatey-people of Psyop with some stunning imagery, cinematography and excellent use of music from Lissie (Go Your Own Way) and Charlene Soraia (Wherever You Will Go). This is some lovely mini-story-telling that makes you feel all warm and cosy inside - much like they want you to think their tea does.

I think someone left the kettle to overboil...

I'm still not so sure about the intimate relationship I'm supposed to have with myself... it's portrayed very romantically - soon I'll be embracing my other self as we sit by the potters wheel and generally get dirty... wierd.

Anyway - no work from me in this post so...

...bye.

I have no idea...

...anybody?

One of my pieces of work from 2011 - about an Occult Related Crimes Unit in South Africa - has been featured on a Chinese website's 'Daily Inspiration' - a website called www.starming.com

If you can bare to leave this bewildered ramble then you can find the original (as well as the other final) on my website

I can't read Chinese which will no doubt hinder my progress in the inevitable age of China that will soon displace America as the hippest, coolest place to be...

...but conversely to what I just said - I can say thank you in chinese, so I will; Xie xie starming.com!

I can also say "hello, how are you?" and then reply to myself - this makes for some interesting conversations with myself. This is all Mandarin Chinese so, knowing my luck, this website is probably all in Cantonese... although I have no idea if they are different when written down.

Hope everyone who celebrates and/or gets a holiday over the easter period had a good one. And to everybody else... err... this is kinda awkward.
Toodle poo!

Work I have (should) be doing...

It's been almost a month!

Yikes.

Well I have been working away on various things so I'll just upload them shall I?...

First up I have Birthday Cards.

One is for my cousin Laura - aged 11 today and still as mad as a hatter. So I went with something appropriately mad but didn't have much time to refine the design what with the imminent birthday in question.

Here's one without the lines - (I like to do this sometimes just for abstract fun)

And the genuine article

Next up it was my Dad's 60th Birthday and so I needed something a little bit exciting. The card had two folds so the left image was the front page, and the whole image folded out flat like so.

coincidentally enough we watched Lethal Weapon a few days later (my first time!) and I didn't realise my speech bubble referenced Danny Glover... I felt so inadequate

And here we have some work-work (but work-work is still fun-fun in my eyes)

I'm currently working on portraiture for Quentin Tarantino originals including Kill Bill
So here is the lovely Lucy Lui as O-Ren Ishii - not sure if it's finished
might drop in some pure white to add some intensity

And finally animal images for my "Wild at Heart" book of animals matched with lonely hearts entries.

Night at the museum

...got locked in, made loads of inanimate friends

Right-o, most recent project has involved promoting The Great North Museum (previously known as the Hancock when I was small and my parents took me places). Took a while to get a running visual theme (see the last post for previous idea) but we've settled on something rather dapper methinks.

You know, we used to call him old chicken neck

Here's some more dinosaurs

I promised these ages ago - and admittedly there are some on my flickr
but I shouldn't go making these promises if I can't keep 'em eh?

New links, new buttons!

Fantastico!

it would seem my website now has links to here, tumblr, flickr and twitter

as well as forward and backward buttons so navigation through the different galleries isn't as tiresome. It's like painting stripes or flames on your car to make it go faster - science! I love it.

"They are eternally bound to this curse

An incarnation of my hatred shall ever follow your kind"

More zelda stuff.
Really want to do my tribute in a more analogue style but when playing about with ideas illustrator is so much easier.

Bow wow old friend...

...bow wow

here are some sketches for my latest piece about police dogs as law enforcers and policemen's bestest buddies.

You can see the final piece on my website (the link is over there!)----->

Oh what the hey,
here's another link

Teh Legendz of Zedla

It's dangerous to go alone

Yeah - I'm working on fine tuning a style to get on with a 25th anniversary tribute for the Legend of Zelda. So this is it thus far but I'm sure I'll be developing style, technique and general whizz-whazz.

Right, back to work

SQUAWK!

These birds are quackers!

...well, they don't go quack but they sure look fancy!

Friday, 10 February 2012

Zelda?

Strange... it sounds somehow... familiar.

Sketches and progress with zelda-related fan art.
It's the 25th anniversary didn't you know?

Link doesn't speak much but I like speech-bubbles - really convey how much he likes to yell

and when drawing Link it's hard not to include the Hylian Shield

Pom Bears

"Hey man, I thought you were from Pom Beach."

I seem to keep myself entertained

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a Pom"
